Our team of PhD psychologists offer evidence-based assessment and treatment services for children, adolescents, and adults. Dr. Daniel Chorney works with children, adolescents, and young adults with a variety of mental health concerns but focusing on anxiety, depression, and insomnia. His training included extensive work in helping young children (e.g. preschool-aged) overcome their fears of social situations and other specific situations (e.g., fear of sleeping alone, separation anxiety, facing new situations, public speaking, needles/injections, etc). Dr. Chorney also has a particular interest in treating pediatric obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and habit disorders.

He has specific training in helping individuals of all ages with sleep concerns ranging from insomnia (difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep) to behavioral difficulties getting children to go to sleep at night. His training focused heavily on both the assessment and treatment of anxiety and mood disorders across the lifespan, and he has extensive experience working in both individual and group settings. He uses both cognitive-behavioral therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy in his practice.

Dr. Chorney completed his undergraduate studies at the University of British Columbia, and received his Ph.D. from West Virginia University under the supervision of Dr. Tracy Morris. He completed his clinical internship at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University in Providence, RI. Prior to starting a private practice Dr. Chorney worked at the IWK as a staff Psychologist within the Community Mental Health program. During his time at the IWK, Dr. Chorney served as the Team Leader for the Anxiety Program (Treatment of Anxiety Group).

Dr. Fiona Davidson works together with children, adolescents, and their parents to create evidence-based treatment plans for a broad range of mental health concerns. She primarily uses cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) but will tailor her approach using other evidence-based treatments such as motivational interviewing and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) to help clients achieve change .

Dr. Davidson has experience treating children and adolescents who have difficulties with anxiety (i.e., generalized anxiety, specific phobias, social anxiety, separation anxiety, health related anxiety including needle phobia, school anxiety/school refusal), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), depression/low mood, low self-esteem, social skills, ADHD, and behavioural sleep problems (i.e., creating age-appropriate bedtime routines, addressing sleep resistance). Her training experiences took place within a variety of mental health settings including both outpatient and inpatient mental health settings, day treatment, specialized teams within children’s health services (i.e., health psychology, developmental disabilities), and school settings.

Dr. Davidson holds a Ph.D in Clinical Psychology from Dalhousie University where her research focused on pediatric sleep deprivation and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder. Prior to completing her Ph.D, Dr. Davidson completed her Master of Arts in School Psychology at Mount Saint Vincent University and her undergraduate studies at Dalhousie University. Dr. Jennifer Khoury works with children, adolescents, and their parents to help address a broad range of mental health difficulties. She primarily uses cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), but incorporates other evidence-based treatment approaches, such as dialectical behavioural strategies, to help children and adolescents achieve change.

Dr. Khoury has experience working with children and adolescents who are experiencing difficulties in a variety of areas, including anxiety (e.g., social anxiety, generalized anxiety, specific phobias), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), depression and low mood, coping with stress, low self-esteem, difficulty managing emotions, and behavioural challenges (non-compliance and defiance). She also has considerable experience in comprehensive diagnostic and psychoeducational assessments.

Dr. Khoury completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Toronto and received her Masters and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Ryerson University in Toronto, Ontario. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), where she received training in individual and group-based interventions and comprehensive assessments. Dr. Khoury is also currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at Mount Saint Vincent University.

Dr. Denise Kyte works with older adolescents (19+) and adults, helping individuals with a broad range of mental health concerns including challenges with mood (e.g., depression or bipolar), and anxiety disorders (e.g., panic attacks, social anxiety, generalized anxiety, and specific phobias). Dr. Kyte also provides treatment for trauma-related concerns (e.g., posttraumatic stress and acute stress), and obsessive-compulsive disorders (OCD).

Dr. Kyte is committed to evidence-based practice that takes into consideration the individual and whole person. Depending on need, example treatment approaches include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Prolonged Exposure (PE), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), the Unified Protocol (UP), as well as attachment/relational-based therapies and dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) informed strategies. Dr. Kyte maintains a developmental, trauma-informed, and culturally sensitive lens with her clinical work.

Dr. Kyte completed her undergraduate degree at St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY. She completed Masters degrees in Mental Health Counseling and Clinical Psychology, along with a PhD in Clinical Psychology, at Suffolk University in Boston, MA followed by her pre-doctoral residency in Clinical Psychology with Nova Scotia Health (NSH)-Western Zone/Valley Regional Hospital. Her training experiences span across inpatient, partial hospital, outpatient, community-based, and private practice settings. She also has considerable experience in comprehensive psychodiagnostic assessment. Dr. Kyte currently works as a staff Psychologist with the NSH Clinical Virtual Care Team (CVCT) with NS Health.

Dr. Laura Lambe works with children, adolescents, and young adults to help address a broad range of mental health difficulties. She primarily uses cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and incorporates other evidence-based treatment strategies as needed, including acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and family-based treatment of eating disorders (FBT, “Maudsley method” for youth eating disorders).

Dr. Lambe has experience working with young people who are experiencing difficulties in a variety of areas, including anxiety (e.g., social anxiety, generalized anxiety), depression and low mood, eating disorders (e.g., anorexia, bulimia), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), trauma, coping with stress, and perfectionism. She also has considerable experience in comprehensive diagnostic and psychoeducational assessments (e.g., learning disabilities, ADHD).

Dr. Lambe completed her undergraduate degree at Dalhousie University and received her Masters and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. She completed her pre-doctoral residency in pediatric clinical psychology at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in Toronto, Ontario. Her training experiences span a variety of mental health settings (e.g., inpatient and outpatient hospital settings, school clinics, private practices) and intervention approaches (e.g., individual and group). Dr. Lambe is also currently a Post-doctoral Fellow in the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience at Dalhousie University. Her research interests focus on the link between young people’s relationships and their mental health, with a specific focus on bullying.

Dr. Bonnie McNeill works with children, adolescents, and young adults with a broad range of mental health concerns. She uses evidence-based treatment approaches, primarily cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), while incorporating strategies from motivational interviewing and dialectical behavioural approaches.

Dr. McNeill has significant experience treating a variety of mental health issues, including difficulties with anxiety (e.g., separation anxiety, social anxiety, generalized anxiety, panic, phobias), mood (e.g., depression, bipolar disorder), coping with stress, adjustment difficulties, low self-esteem, difficulty managing emotions, suicidal thoughts, behavioural concerns/noncompliance, school refusal, psychosis, anger management, trichotillomania, skin-picking disorders, and body dysmorphic disorder. Dr. McNeill has a particular specialty and interest in the treatment of anxiety and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). She also has extensive experience in the diagnostic assessment and treatment of serious mental health issues.

Dr. McNeill completed her undergraduate studies at Dalhousie University and received her Masters and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. She completed her clinical residency at the IWK Health Centre in Halifax. Dr. McNeill has worked for 9 years at the IWK Health Centre on the inpatient mental health unit (Garron Centre for Child and Adolescent Mental Health) and for several years with the IWK OCD Specific Care Clinic. Dr. McNeill is also an Adjunct Clinical Associate at Dalhousie University where she supervises Ph.D. students.

Dr. Breagh Newcombe works with individuals across the lifespan (aged 6-55) with a focus on helping others overcome their struggles with anxiety and trauma. She uses evidence-based treatment approaches, primarily cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT).

Dr. Newcombe works with individuals who are experiencing difficulties in a variety of areas including anxiety (e.g., separation anxiety, social anxiety, generalized anxiety, panic, phobias), mood, coping with stress, adjustment difficulties, low self-esteem, difficulty managing emotions, suicidal thoughts, tic disorders, ADHD, body image concerns, eating disorders, and mental health concerns during perinatal and postpartum periods.

Dr. Newcombe completed her undergraduate degree at Saint Francis Xavier University, received her Masters degree in Clinical Psychology from Acadia University and completed her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the University of New Brunswick. She completed her pre-doctoral internship in London Ontario at the Child and Parent Recourse Institute (CPRI), London Health Science Center (LHSC), and Parkwood Institute, where she received training in individual and group-based interventions and comprehensive assessments in both inpatient and outpatient settings with children, adolescents, and adults.
